It is important therefore to consider the lifetime of the products used. The luminaire should be L90 @ 100,000 hours to ensure that it doesn’t need to be replaced every few years. The lifetime of the photovoltaic panel should be similar to that of the luminaire. Good quality PV panels have a lifetime of 25 years. The lifetime of the battery is also important. This should be 2000 deep discharges. For UK and Irish climates, it can be beneficial to specify a non-integral solar lighting system so that this can be properly sized for your location.
